Hero Skill Deactivation?
Ok.... so I use Heroes constantly. I never use PuGs, am the only member of my guild.... and use nothing but Heroes and Henchies to PvE... I've used the Heroes to complete Prophecies and Factions (though ironically not Nightfall yet)... killed just about everything available in Cantha with them... taken them through the Fissure of Woe without trouble....
... and yet people go on about "deactivating" hero skills, and I have never worked out how to do it. I know clicking a skill puts a tick on it to give it priority in the casting list (and if you click it while it is already being cast, the stupid hero cancels it and wastes the energy until it can cast it again). I know clicking a skill with a tick on takes that tick off. I even figured out the target button and the three behaviour buttons... unamazingly enough. But nothing else seems seems to do anything. Double-clicking the skills is just as though I clicked it twice ordinarily, no matter how fast I do it. Right-clicking doesn't seem to do anything (just the camera as usual)... Same for wheel-clicking. I can't imagine what buttons might lock the skills..... so I can't figure out how to do it. And until I can figure out how to stop my heroes using particular skills at particular times, I'm going to be at a disadvantage. >_<; Might someone help me with this? |

If you hold the cursor over the skill long enough, you get a little tooltip that pops up and says something to the effect of "to disable a skill, hold shift while clicking the skill"
Hope that helps BeefEater |

Shift-clicking the skill "disables" it.

... Doesn't work.
The tool-tip with the skill description comes up instantly.... and at the base it says: "Hold Action : Suppress Action and click to disable" .... which as I have already found is nonsense. Shift-clicking does the same as clicking without Shift.... Same with both Shift bars. No effect Ctrl-clicking, Alt-clicking, Ctrl+Alt clicking, Ctrl+Shift clicking, Alt+Shift clicking, Ctrl+Alt+Shift clicking. All do exactly the same: Put a tick on the skill, or take it off if there is already one. Last edited by SotiCoto; Apr 03, 2007 at 09:27 PM // 21:27.. |

Try “Ctrl” Click (Can’t remember for sure I am at work) It will disable till you do the command again. When disabled you can still force them to use the skill, but manually have to click on the heroes skill bar for them to do it. Very useful in 2nd to last mission.

My guess is you have Action: Suppress Action unbound or bound to a different key. Check your options.

It does work, I guarantee. I do it all the time and I did it just now to check if maybe there was something wrong with it. Hold down shift and click with your cursor on the skill you want to disable. It will then disable it, in or out of town. Left or right shift key does not matter, both do it. It's as simple as that, I promise.
The only thing that could possibly be wrong is, as someone else said, your action: supress action key is set to something else. Go to options -> control and it's like 10 or so down from the top of the list. Check what your key is set to. |

I'll need to check that when I get back tonight then.... as I've already told you guys that Shift-clicking doesn't work. I'm not some dimwit, for what it is worth.... I've been a regular computer-user since 1994, Internetting since 1995 ... If Shift-click had been working for me then I would have figured it out instantly.
That said... I'm not sure how it would have set itself differently for me than for anyone else. I haven't fiddled with the key-assignment options to the best of my knowledge. There isn't anything else it could be.... so I will check the assignments when I get home later. |

Go into options and check your key layout. What ever key is assigned to "suppress action" is the key you need to hold while you click.
